CONTINUITY
Continuity.
01 / MISSION
The connection behind discovery.
Optique’s mission is to strengthen the connection between the people participating in research, the teams conducting it, and the sponsors supporting its possibilities. That connection deserves deliberate attention. In a UK study of autism research, researchers and community members described different experiences of engagement: the involvement researchers believed they were providing was not consistently experienced by autistic adults and families (Pellicano et al.). Optique recognizes a design responsibility in that distance—understanding how a relationship is experienced by the people on each side of it.
02 / GOVERNANCE
Governance, with people in mind.
Communication also depends on how an exchange takes place. Research with autistic adults has documented barriers associated with telephone contact and preferences for written communication in several settings, including research (Howard and Sedgewick 2265). These findings inform the questions Optique brings to operations architecture. How does a concern enter the decision-making process? Where does responsibility continue when circumstances change? Our governance gives those questions a place in the design, shaping how information is considered, how responsibilities connect, and how commitments are carried forward within the institution’s requirements.
03 / SPONSOR CONNECTION
The research you choose to support.
The research you choose to support gives our collaboration its starting point. Optique works with institutions to establish an appropriate connection between sponsors and the human experiences surrounding their contribution. Socio-behavioral research involving children with autism and other developmental disorders gives particular meaning to this work. We appreciate the dedication behind opening new possibilities for children and families who otherwise might remain unseen or unheard in their communities. We welcome a conversation about the research that matters to you—and your questions about the thinking, evidence, and care behind Optique.
